Kendal
will be looking for a third straight win this weekend as they travel
to Cheshire to play newly promoted Nantwich Town in This Unibond
Premier Division encounter. The last 2 matches have gone really
well for Kendal, winning 2-0 at home to Eastwood last Saturday followed
by a hard fought 3-2 win at Whitby on Bank Holiday Monday. The manner
of the performances have also been very impressive and at this early
stage of the season Kendal look on their game and will be looking
to keep that momentum going this weekend. As far as I’m aware Town
will be playing a similar team to the one that won the last 2 games.
Michael Cole and Neil Murphy returned for The Whitby game, and both
may start at Nantwich. Craig Hobson will also be looking to start
his 2nd game in a row and his hat trick against Whitby will help
his cause for a starting place. The opposition: Nantwich are on
the crest of a wave at the moment, they won the FA Vase in 2005-2006
, followed by gaining promotion to Unibond Division 1 South from
the North West Counties league in 2006-2007. And they followed that
up by gaining promotion to The Unibond Premier Division in 2007-2008.
They are also playing at a brand new stadium after playing their
final game at Jackson Avenue at the end of last season. The Weaver
Stadium is a £4 million stadium and has a capacity of 3,500 and
this will be Kendal’s 1st visit to the ground. There manager is
Steve Davis who used to play for Crewe Alexandra, Burnley and Barnsley.
He is also the former manager of Northwhich Victoria. So Far this
season: Considering this is their 1st taste of The Unibond Premier
Division, they haven’t got off to a bad start winning 2 and losing
1 of their 1st 3 games. They have played a game less than everyone
else as their opening day match with Boston was postponed. They
are currently on a 2 game winning streak just like Kendal winning
4-0 at Worksop followed by a narrow 3-2 home win over Prescot Cables.
Players to watch out for: There 2 forwards in Michael Lennon and
Liam Shotton are a handful. Lennon is a young striker who scored
a hat trick away at Worksop Town whilst Shotton scored 2 in their
3-2 win over Prescot Cables. Both will have to be watched closely
as they are in confident form at the moment. Overall thoughts: This
should be a good match, both sides are in confident form and both
like to play football. The opposition have high expectations just
like Kendal, so theirs a lot of similarities between the 2 sides.
Kendal need to be professional and show the same courage and determination
that they showed up at Whitby on Bank Holiday to get a result.
