Kendal Town's five game unbeaten run came to an end as they were dumped out of the FA Cup by League One side Mossley. Town had started brightly enough and had the first chance as Alex Taylor turned and shot, but his effort went wide. Mossley's Simon Wood shot wide for the visitors. Craig Hobson had a great chance to put Town in front, but shot over the bar following a great cross from Carl Osman. Mossley's Mike Fish wasted a free kick from the edge of the area. Lee Blackshaw then went close for the visitors, but his effort was blocked. Town 'keeper David Newnes was forced to head the ball from outside his area, this set up a Mossley forward, but George Melling blocked his attempt by chesting the ball off the line. David Newnes recovered enough to save a follow up shot. Mossley's Nick Boshell had a shot from distance as the visitors took charge of the game. The same player then had a goal ruled offside. Mike Fish then hit the bar as Town struggled to keep the visitors out. Town were finally undone on the stroke of half time as Mossley's Blackshaw scored at the back post on 45 minutes. The second half started with another great chance for Town, Craig Hobson lifted the ball over the advancing 'keeper, but watched it go wide. Town had started the second half very lively and were level on 54 minutes as Hobson finally converted a chance. George Melling then hit the post as Town pushed forward. Lee Mulvaney was replaced by Tony Hallam. Mossley's Mike Fish headed over when he should have scored. Mitch Bailey then shot over the bar as Town cleared from a corner. Zach Clarke replaced Hobson. Blackshaw had two chances to put the visitors into the lead again, but failed to convert them. Mossley did regain the lead on 80 minutes as Leon Henry tapped in following good work from Mossley down the left wing. Town had chances to take the game to a replay. Firstly, an Alex Taylor header was tipped over the bar. Then Tony Hallam headed just wide from a corner. The best chance fell to Alex Taylor, who was in on goal with only the 'keeper to beat, but the 'keeper spread himself well and saved the shot. That was to be Town's last chance and so it is Mossley that progress.
