Kendal
go head to head with Unibond North side Mossley AFC this weekend
as Town will be looking to progress into the next qualifying round
of the FA Cup. This won’t be an easy match Mossley play a good attacking
brand of football just like we do, and I think there is going to
be a lot of breath taking football as well as goals. Town go into
this Cup tie on the back of a 5 match unbeaten run, a start which
dream’s are made of really. All the players are playing well, and
for the most part’s have been a real handful to opposing Unibond
Premier Division sides. It’s hard to single out 1 player as all
the lad’s have been playing well, and they will have to keep playing
like that if they are to overcome this weekends opponents. From
the team news perspective I don’t know what team Ashy will go for,
he made a few changes against Ashton on Monday night, The manager
has a good squad of players to choose from which his giving him
a selection dilemma, last season it was easy to pick the side not
any more as all the player’s are top quality. The opposition: Mossley
have had a fine start to Their Unibond North campaign, and despite
them losing their last 2 games in both the league cup and the league
their form previous to that saw them win 6 straight games. They
play football and come to The Lakeland Radio Stadium confident of
progressing to the next round. They got to this stage after a 4-1
home win over Flixton in the 1st qualifying round. Here is a description
of some of the player’s that will cause Kendal some trouble: Mike
Fish; Nicknamed Fishy by the supporter’s, he’s a striker with 12
goals to his name so far this season, apparently clubs in a higher
division have been after him and after looking at video clips of
him I can see why he is highly thought of. Mossley fortunately for
them have been able to keep hold of him despite the interest. Mitch
Bailey: A former Huddersfield Town player who they recently signed
from Hyde Utd. Hyde never really gave him an opportunity so he has
a chance to impress with Mossley. Ryan Cook: A young midfielder
that continues to impress, scorer of 2 goals so far this season,
but a player that can cause a lot of trouble for Kendal. Nick Boothby:
A commanding centre defender who form’s a good back line partnership
with Graham Kay. Graham Kay: The club captain, leads by example
and works well together in defence with Nick Boothby at centre back.
Mossley’s last match: Here is a link to a match report of their
last match when they lost 4-3 at home to Garforth in the league
last weekend: http://www.mossleyweb.com/MwebFrameset0809.htm Overall:
A tough match, but one Kendal are more than capable of winning,
I just hope a lot of you can turn up to watch what is sure to be
a good match.
