Kendal Town 1 v Guiseley 1 Abandondd on 36 min.
2nd September 2008

The heavens opened just ast as Kendal Town took on league leaders Guiseley. Kendal Town welcomed loan signing Daniel Holdsworth (a month's loan deal from Carlisle United) The game was always in doubt of finishing as the rain continued to fall. Town's Alex Taylor had a great header superbly saved by the impressive Guiseley 'keeper Piotr Skiba, one of the best 'keepers in the division. The play was changing from end to end in almost farcical conditions at time. The ball was holding up and players, from both sides were miskicking the ball or even missing it at all !. Town 'keeper David Newnes did pull off a great save to deny Guiseley's Dave Brown, but minutes later the visitors went went 1-0 up. The initial chance from a corner was blocked, but centre half Danny Ellis blasted the ball in on 25 minutes. Guiseley could have made it 2-0 a minute later, but Anthony Lloyd's effort went inches wide. The rain kept falling. A great move from a Kendal Town free kick saw Ian Kilford play it into Lee Ashcroft's feet and a superb touch from him set up Lee Mulvaney to drive the ball home on 31minutes to level the game at 1-1. 5 minutes after this the referee abandoned the game. 5 minutes after the game was abandonded, it stopped raining. Town now make the journey to Humberside on Saturday to face North Ferriby United. Only 36 minutes action tonight, but it was a vast improvement from last Saturday at Nantwich Town.
