Kendal
will be looking to make it 4 straight wins at the weekend as they
host Frickley Athletic in this Unibond Premier Division encounter.
Town are on a hot streak at the moment, 3 straight wins, scoring
goals for fun, and taking teams apart, all the players are playing
at their best right now and causing havoc to opposing teams in the
division. A lot of the good form is down to the team spirit and
the attacking philosophy that Lee Ashcroft has instilled within
his side. And at the moment we are 7th and only 3 points off top
spot. This weekend Kendal will fancy their chances against Frickley
as they have made an indifferent start to the season, that said
they will be taken seriously and respected otherwise Kendal might
be on the end of a nasty shock! Team news: The team are without
Town player manager Lee Ashcroft and Michael Cole through suspension. As
well as Tony Hallam and Dave Standley through Injury. However Craig
Hobson should return from his ban this weekend and it will be a
straight fight between Anthony Murt and Hobson to partner Alex Taylor
in attack. The opposition: Frickley Athletic struggled last season
and have shown early signs of being in another relegation dog fight
this campaign. They managed to steer themselves away from trouble
in last season’s campaign by going on an impressive undefeated streak
which ultimately kept them up! This season they have got off to
an indifferent start, currently 18th in the league, winning 1, drawing
3 and losing 4 of their 1st 8 games. However they are coming off
a 1-0 home victory over Skelmersdale United in The FA Cup qualifier
last weekend. Frickley have been in most games this season apart
from The North Ferriby United one where they lost 4-1 and when you
look at their goals for and against record it’s pretty modest, in
comparison to other teams. They also pushed Bradford Park Avenue
very close a few weeks ago only losing 4-3, so that result proves
that they can compete with some of the bigger teams in this division.
Going off my experiences of Frickley I would class them as a physically
competitive side. They know how to mix it with opposing sides when
they have too! They have a number of danger men within their squad
that could cause Town a bit of trouble: . Lee Morris: A striker
who consistently scores at Unibond Premier Division level, currently
with 3 goals to his name this season and is sure to get more as
there Unibond League campaign progresses Neil Towler: A 29 year
old striker, quite tall, despite only scoring 2 so far this season
he is a threat and will have to be watched closely by Kendal The
last time we played each other? We played them twice last season,
and beat them 1-0 at the Lakeland Radio Stadium through a Peter
Wright free kick but went down 2-1 at their place later on that
season. Overall: A Match Town should win, but expect it too be a
very physical encounter! If Kendal can play the attacking football
they have been playing in recent week’s then Frickley will struggle
to find answers. Hopefully the lad’s can score early and get Frickley
on the back foot, however Town must make sure that the game doesn’t
drag on at 0-0 as the visitors will be happy with that scenario!
