Kendal Town v Whitby Town

Preview by Richard Edmondson

Kendal will be looking to continue their impressive start to the season as they host Whitby Town this Tuesday night! Town had another good win at the weekend after a comfortable 2-0 victory down at Worksop Town. The team were dominant throughout and could have had more than the 2 goal’s but with the team playing so well at the moment they will fancy their chances on Tuesday night against a Whitby team whom they have a good record against. Saturday saw Michael Cole return to the starting line up, and actually grabbing a goal from the penalty spot, so theirs a good chance that he will start on Tuesday. Meanwhile Lee Ashcroft serves the last of his 3 match suspension against Whitby whilst Ian Kilford is still likely to be absent from the match. The opposition: Whitby started the season having not won a match in the whole of August. However it’s been a different story in the past month where they have been unbeaten in the last 5 league matches. They have picked up wins against the likes of Leigh and Bradford Park whilst drawing with Nantwich Town. Players to watch out for: Whitby’s main threat comes through Danny Brunskill, a prolific scorer at Unibond Level with 4 goals to his name so far this season. Also watch out for Striker Sam Garvie and midfielder Stephen Huggin’s who was regarded as one of the best box to box midfielder’s in the Northern League. And if playing look out for Lee Nogan, highly experienced striker who has been all round the footballing circuit, always tend’s to score against Kendal, I remember him scoring against Town at The Lakeland Radio Stadium last season and he also grabbed a goal against us earlier this season. Overall: It’s potentially an exciting match as both sides have shared a fair few goals between them in recent times and both are in good form. If Kendal carry on from what they have been doing all season they should come away with a positive result on Tuesday night.
