After
an away defeat at Nantwich and Tuesday nights home match with Guiesley
abandoned, Town will be looking for 3 points this weekend as they
travel to play North Ferriby United in this latest Unibond Premier
Division encounter. Last Saturday’s performance by the team was
surprisingly poor considering the performances that they have put
on in recent weeks. Whilst Tuesday nights home match with Guiesley
was just a mud bath with players slipping and sliding all over the
place in the 36 minutes of action that we did get. So a positive
result is essential in this fixture as Town will be looking to get
some consistency going in this early part of the season. Bar any
fresh injuries between now and Saturday Kendal should line up with
the same team as Tuesday night. This means Dan Wordsworth on loan
from Carlisle is likely to partner George Melling at the back. Meanwhile
Lee Ashcroft may start up front with Alex Taylor as he did on Tuesday
night. The opposition: North Ferriby United have had a mixed start
to this seasons campaign, and had lost 4 straight matches before
claiming a moral boosting 4-1 home win over Frickley Athletic on
Tuesday night. From looking at various reports and information North
Ferriby haven’t actually been playing that bad, they just lose concentration
for a spell and that’s when opposing sides tend to punish them.
Looking at the scores from their games, over than the Eastwood match
where they lost for 5, there hasn’t been that much in it. Last season
we had a mixed set of results with this weekend’s opponents, having
narrowly lost 1-0 at home to them earlier on in 2008, however we
did win 3-1 down at their place later on in the season. Players
to watch out for: The teams mixed with youth and a bit of experience,
I would say the main threats for them will come through: Gary Bradshaw:
a 24 year old striker who is always a prolific goal scorer at Unibond
Premier level, and has already scored 2 goals this season. He has
had spells with Newcastle United,Hull City,Harrogate,Scarborough, and
Cheltenham Town. Chris Bolder: He is 24, the captain of the side,
and a midfielder who’s very tenacious and talented, scores goals
and leads by example. Russell Fry: A 22 year old midfielder, who
is a former Welsh under 16 and England under 20 international. Scored
2 in Tuesday nights 4-1 home win over Frickley Athletic. Overall:
A winnable match for Kendal, and winning their last season will
give the team extra confidence too go there again and get another
positive result. It will be a tough game as North Ferriby are coming
off a good win on Tuesday night, but if Kendal play like they have
been doing other than the Nantwich game we should get something
from this encounter.
